We are raising money for vital sensory rooms and equipment.

Springwell School is a Primary School for children ages 4 – 11 years with Complex Learning Difficulties. All of our pupils have a severe level of special needs and many have associated disabilities such as autism, speech and language disorders and challenging behaviour. Due to the increased demand for special school places our school is currently undergoing a significant expansion, having originally been built in 2007 for 57 children. As from September this year we will have 216 pupils and will continue to expand over the next two years until we reach our capacity of 256 which is a considerable size for a primary special school such as ours.

Due to their complex needs, many of our children greatly benefit from sensory spaces and specialist rooms as they provide sensory and interactive experiences as they progress through the school. Our new build has two such dedicated areas but due to financial pressures, the cost of equipping the sensory rooms is no longer included within the overall project.

With specialist knowledge and advice, designs have been drawn up to provide a calm space with relaxing seating, a hideaway tunnel and mood lighting. We also plan to install a sensory integration room which includes an internal swing, body roller, trampette mat, climbing wall and many other features to assist our children with their occupational therapy and provide an opportunity for them to explore independently in a safe and secure environment.

These sensory rooms will play and important part in our pupils education and development and benefit all children who attend Springwell School. Please help us to raise the funds required for this vital equipment.
