Hello, my name is Gaby and i want to tell Thibault"s story

today my son turned 4 years old.   This is his story: When Thibault turned 3 years old,  the nursery said  he has a delay with his  speech,  we  spent  the whole year  to  try  to   help  him  with  his  speech  but  living  in a rich  borough  of London,  help  for  this  sort  of  condition  is  few  and  far  between. As me and partner both work and have tried to do our best regarding private and nhs help we are struggling. We have been told all sorts of things regarding the contributing factors to his delay, glue ear, tonsil issues,ear infections, jaw development problems and even the autistic thing/ADHD. We attend appointments for everything from speech and language to ENT at the hospital, still relying on those supposedly in the know to shed some light on what parents are somewhat ashamed to admit is an issue. We had seen Audiologists who told us that his glue ear will dry eventually and they will see us in 3 months .... they handed me a leaflet about Glue ear from 2005 ..... the NHS speech and language therapist said to just speak english at home, as an other language might confuse him more. As a family(all three of us we are strong) but some things in life really test you and thought using this website we can try to shed some light on a hidden issue facing couples and there young children. The issue of delayed development is not just another ticking the box issue of what a child can and cannot do, it is a bit more rooted then that and has further consequences to not only how the child develops but also how a family as a whole develops. I am not looking to fund for a holiday or whatever, but just a genuine concern and awareness of a quiet concern that if your child is'developmentally delayed' all is not lost......

This is Thibault's story and we want to bring awareness and make sure that user family who are going through this are NOT ALONE !
