Story
Cyclone Gaja, which slammed into Tamil Nadu has claimed many lives.Many trees have been uprooted, cattle died, houses damaged and agricultural land has been affected. People all over have suffered heavy losses, and are now struggling to recover and rebuild. This project aims to assist the rehabilitation and reconstruction that has been destroyed by the GAJA.
PROPOSED PLAN FOR DONATING THE MONEY
The aim is to help people from the Gaja affected area to rebuild their lives. As part of this project various trainings, coaching activities, tailoring classes for women in two village will be started. This will enable them to generate small income. There is a scope for them to start a work unit and supply readymade garments and carry bags to local shops. The project also provides computers, printers, internet connection and typewriter to two schools and provide kids with necessary skills to develop their knowledge. The school computers and printers also will be used by local students, youngsters and graduates applying for jobs.
The £3500 pounds collected will be spent on the following.
Sewing machine 8 – Each Rs 9000 =₹72,000
One of the building needed repair at ₹50,000
Computer training for 2 schools with 3 computers each and a printer-
Computer 6- Rs 25000 each= ₹150,000
Printers 2- Rs 1000 each= ₹20,000
Typewriter 2- Rs 7000 each= ₹14,000
Total start-up cost is ₹306,000
Other ongoing costs-
Teacher wage for tailoring 2 people- Rs 3000 pm for 12 months= ₹72,000 pa
PC coach wage 2 person- Rs 3000 for12 months=₹72,000 pa
Internet connection ₹1500pm
We will forward the receipts and the completion of the above project in Mid-April.

5 years agoWe collectively collected £3411.65 from our crown funding website and transferred Rupees 3,09,095.49 on March 28.The money was collected through B I Tamil radio program, cooking food, badminton tournament, events and individual contributions from people in all groups in UK. This includes £600 by Leicester Tamil Sangam. I am awaiting the receipts from Valarmathy, who is currently in the village and will be returning shortly. The initial photos of the purchase of tailoring machines, computers as below.Thanks to all contributors.
