Story
In April I am aiming to complete the Hannover marathon in just under three hours. In doing so, I hope to raise much-needed funds for The Zimbabwe Agricultural Welfare Trust, which has provided support for the beleaguered agricultural community in Zimbabwe since 2001.
I am running specifically to raise money for the further education of a small group of orphans and vulnerable young people (pictured above) who have worked extremely hard to get college places against significant odds. The chance to obtain qualifications could transform their future trajectory and have a hugely positive influence on those around them. You can read more about their personal stories here: www.zawt.org
The ZAWT was brought to my attention by my colleague Vicky Stubbs who has close ties to the farming community in Zimbabwe. The Trust was granted full charitable status by the Charity Commission of England and Wales in 2002 and Archbishop Desmond Tutu is a Patron.
Vicky and I would be extremely grateful for any donation you are able to make, no matter how small.
Best wishes,
Gareth
