When I was 14 years old, I was lucky to survive a road traffic collision while playing on my bike. Following several major surgeries and unsure if I would walk again, I fought against all odds and pursued active careers in boxing and the armed forces. I had always been so active but in recent years, I found that this had dwindled due my previously injured leg giving me ongoing trouble. My weight increased and my physical and mental state decreased. In October 2018, I saw this photo and decided that I needed to change my lifestyle drastically. I started training and am feeling better than I have in years. I am running the Cardiff Bay 10k in March to prove to myself that I can still overcome barriers and help promote the importance of physical activity for the younger generation by raising money for sports and play equipment for the children at Heolgerrig Community School.
