    Story

    Lou's Story

When I met her I saw the 'Spark'. Straight away I saw her inner qualities, positive attitude, confident in her own abilities, a way of looking at life that made me smile and laugh. I once told her, "You have a strange kind of logic, but it works for you". She was confident, bubbly, forward looking - determined and unafraid to let people know her opinions. That's my Lou. In 2013 Lou was diagnosed with breast cancer. When people come face to face with their own mortality there are really only 2 directions you can take. Fight or flight. The fight was on.

She made me so proud of her. She shone brighter than ever. It was, the fight of her life and she won the first battle.

Alongside her long term health conditions, COPD and asthma. Lou had to go through the chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment and mastectomy surgery to have her breast removed. She contracted MRSI as a result of the surgery. She had opted for reconstructive surgery however the infection meant she was unable to take advantage of .She is now on a long term anti-cancer drug as well as medications for asthma/COPD, and managing repeated infections of lungs and skin, eventually leading to sepsis pneumonia a leading to scarring on her lungs. Her hair regrew after treatment but side effects of medications have made her lose her hair permanently on part of her head .She had to postpone dental treatment to remove her remaining teeth and get a new set of dentures privately. She has dealt with her mastectomy scar and is proud of the fact she is a survivor yet having patchy hair and broken missing teeth has utterly destroyed her confidence and turned her into a total recluse. What I am asking for is enough money to cover a privately fitted hair piece and some dentures. That would mean the world to her,and hopefully help her regain a little of her confidence, I am currently volunteering my time for Cancer research charity but I would like to help her personally she has no family support network and has lost touch with all her friends as she rarely leaves her home.
