Story
My son Gavin Willmott is battling cancer and at the moment he is undergoing intense chemotherapy. This is going to last for approximately 3 months. He spends a lot of time at Addenbrookes hospital for his treatment and after speaking with his wife Louise I was shocked to learn that the oncology department is drab and lifeless. It is bad enough that they have to have chemotherapy, without having to sit and look at drab walls for hours on end.
Some days the treatment only lasts a couple of hours, but other days it will last all day. I am asking that you think about how you would feel if you had to spend all day in a lifeless room with nothing to do all day? Having nothing else to think about apart from the effects of the treatment. Not a very nice thought is it?
Gavin's cancer started a year ago with testicular cancer, and returned 12 months later. It has now spread to his lymph nodes. He is married with a very young family. His son also has severe haemophilia, as though that wasn't enough to deal with he got dealt an even bigger blow with the big C.
As Gavin's mum I feel totally helpless and not sure how I can help. I thought long and hard as to what I could do and decided if I could raise enough money to buy a couple of TVs and maybe some inspirational quotes for the wall it would be a start. If you could think about donating [no matter how small] we would be very grateful and I know all the patients that attend this clinic would benefit from it.
From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU
