My aim is to set up a charity called "Gems and Jewels" - Where every child can sparkle and shine.

As a student nurse it has been an honour to work with so many individuals with special needs or learning difficulties. I cannot even begin to put into words how much I adore working with these children and young people, and how much of a difference they make to my life!

I want to give something back, say thank you for every time they have made me smile or warmed my heart.

There is a lack of suitable facilities for children with disabilities and special needs. Often they are not able to express themselves as they wish, play how they want to or just enjoy life without being judged by others. I am hoping by setting up this charity and creating this centre I can create a loving, caring and welcoming environment for these children, young people, their friends and their families.

The charity will raise funds to establish play centres for children with special needs, complex needs or disabilities. The centre will have a soft play area, computer area, quiet space, sensory wheelchair walk through, messy play space and a vast array of sensory toys and crafting materials. It will also provide facilities and space for parents to chat, share tips and spend time with all their children, as well as giving them the essential accessible changing facilities for children and young people with disabilities.

Every little helps, so please give if you feel able. Hopefully we can realise this dream and create a safe and loving space for these children, young people and their families!
