    Story

    Spend more to shave more!

Our dear friends Sian and Tom have 3 year old identical twins - Austin and Edward. Heartbreakingly, on 16th October 2017, aged just 2 years old, Austin was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL). Within 7 months Edward was diagnosed with the same condition. Over the past year the family’s life has been turned upside down. The course of chemotherapy treatment for boys with ALL is a minimum of 3 years and as a result they are having to spend a lot of their early years in hospital undergoing a gruelling treatment regime and dealing with its side effects.

Because of their weakened immune systems, the boys often have to spend days on end confined to their treatment room when they visit Medway hospital and cannot use the communal playroom on the children's ward due to risk of infection.

Based on Edward and Austin's experiences, our ultimate goal is to fund a fun, stimulating and safe space for children with cancer to escape the day to day gruel of treatment, away from the confines of their hospital room.

The boys are incredibly brave in fighting this illness, but of course struggle with the effects of their treatment, such as losing their hair. In solidarity and to raise funds towards the play space, Fergus and I will be shaving our heads on 12/1/19. We’d love to see you at this fundraising event and will be releasing details of when and where nearer the time. In the mean time, or if you are not able to attend, any donations - great or small - would be hugely appreciated. Let’s help make these gorgeous little boys’ fight against cancer a little easier.

Thanks so much for all the support to date! We have been overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and generosity. We have moved the date of the big shave to 2/2/19 as there was a clash with another important event. So we have an extra month to fundraise and an extra month to grow my hair a little bit longer for donation to the Little Princess Trust. Look forward to seeing some of you there!
