Story
This is Archie he is a very special little boy. He was born with over 90% of his brain missing. This means he needs 24 hour a day care. Archie is blind, has severe cerebral palsy and is unable to do anything for himself. His condition is severe, and without constant monitoring, he is at risk of life threatening seizures daily .
Archie and his 8 year old sister Georgie are about to become homeless as of January 30th and as a mother, I truly need your help.
My name is Laura and I am single mum to Archie and his 8 year old sister Georgie. We currently live in a privately rented bungalow just outside Stirling in Scotland. The owner of the house we live in has cancelled our tenancy because she wants to sell up, believe me when I say that the cancellation is airtight and we have exhausted every possible avenue trying to find a way to have it extended or to find another place to live.
Our final extension runs out on January 30th and by then we have to have found somewhere else to live or we will be out on a homeless shelter, only this will most likely kill my son due to the lack of minimal facilities to care for his medical needs.
We have been living in our rented house for three years. In 4 weeks time we will be forced out and sadly neither the Council or other housing provider were able to offer us ANYTHING. Seriously, nothing. I fought hard for my son. I wrote to every single paper and children's charity in this country. I went to lawyers and to disability agencies. I even went to the Scottish Parliament to fight for the rights of severely disable children like my boy.
I have to come to terms now that I failed. There is no property that will be offered us.
So I am doing what any mother would do in my skin: I am asking for help.
Archie's condition and needs mean that I have to find a property that he can be cared for in safely. Due to the rules and regulations (made for families with no disabilities), the council wont allow us to get a non-disability adapted property and adapt it for Archie's needs. So that makes my choices very simple: Homeless shelter, or I need to get a loan on my name and buy a small house I can adapt for my son.
I am fighting on my own whilst caring for Archie 24 hours a day. Even with all difficulties presented, I have managed to secure a small personal mortgage loan that will allow me to buy a small house. I am close, but due to the extenuating circumstances, the deposit required is much higher than I can afford.
That is why I have started this crowdfunding website. I am so very close to save my family and assure a safe future for my boy, I am hoping that there are people out there willing to give a little to help us with the deposit we need to pay to secure our home.
Hopefully, if you have read this far you are thinking about making a donation. Please, the smallest amounts can add up to the greatest of miracles. Thank you for reading our story.
