Story
This fund is in memory of Brian Walker MBE whose great love (other than his family and friends) was books! His final wishes were to give any donations in his name to the children and young people of Derbyshire to enable more access to books and foster literacy and learning.
Brian dedicated his life to learning and education. In his career he sought to address the challenges schools face in providing young people with the very best start to their lives. He wished to provide young people with the tools they need to access the opportunities in front of them. Reading and literacy was at the very core of his passion.
All fund raised via this page will be directed to local need in Derbyshire to give books or financial support required to provide children and young people with the chance to further their literacy and reading.

In memory of Brian Walker MBE
Brian Walker passed away on the 13th June 2022 following a short battle with cancer. He dedicated his life to education, starting out as an English teacher and then 45 years as Deputy and Headteacher in Derby schools Chellaston and West Park. Reading was his ultimate passion.
