    Story

HELP US BRING JERRY, HIS FAMILY AND HIS FRIENDS TOGETHER FOR A FITTING MEMORIAL.

A tragic motorcycle accident took the life of Jerry Ray Pizor while traveling in Malaysia at 11:30am on Wednesday, 3 January 2018. At 33 years old, this would be tragic under any circumstances. It is made worse because currently Jerry's body is in Malaysia, his parents and family are in Virginia, USA, while his friends and those closest to him for the most part are in the UK.

Jerry was 11 months old when his parents, Glenn & Janet Pizor, moved to the UK as missionary workers in 1983. They recently returned to the USA after Glenn suffered a stroke that has led to dementia. Jerry remained in the UK, which is virtually the only home he has known and where his life including his friends has been built. He worked hard and saved his money to take this trip to travel in Southeast Asia but Birmingham, UK is his home and where he should be brought for a final resting place.

Due to the great expense in transporting a body, the family have deemed it more practical to have the body cremated in Malaysia and the ashes returned. Though much less expensive, this alone will still incur great expense to meet all the legal requirements and for some of his closest friends to be present for the cremation and return the ashes to the UK. His immediate family consists of 7 people that will need return flights to the UK for a Memorial Service. This family does not have the financial means to make this possible. There was a small insurance policy in place that under normal circumstances would have probably covered funeral expenses but this alone will not cover all the expenses required in Malaysia and getting him back to the UK, let alone bringing the family together for his Memorial.

Would you please help us make it possible to bring Jerry, his family and his friends together for a Memorial Service in the UK? Jerry was an incredible human being that loved greatly and was deeply loved by so many. It appears that one of his final decisions was to sacrifice his own life to save the life of his girlfriend, who was riding with him when he discovered the brakes had failed. I am asking earnestly that for such a selfless young man that made the ultimate sacrifice for someone he loved, that you consider giving in his memory to make it possible for him, his family and friends to be able to be joined together in memory of this precious life. The Pizor family have given to others their entire life and those that know Jerry know that he is a shining example of giving and putting others before himself. Now is our chance to give in return. Something this tragic is difficult to cope with at anytime but one thing we can at least do is make it possible for this family and friends to be able to come together with the one they loved, to share their love and comfort with one another during this time of such great loss.

PLEASE HELP US WITH WHATEVER YOU CAN! All gifts will go directly to the Pizor family to help as much as possible with all the expenses involved in making this happen and leaving a fitting Memorial in Jerry's honour. May God bless you for your acts of kindness.

Thank you for all you have done to make this happen. Jerry's ashes are now in Birmingham. His family will arrive from Virginia and his girlfriend from Malaysia. A Memorial Service is planned for 7 March at 11am at Bethel Free Baptist Church, Birmingham followed by the family receiving friends in the Fellowship Hall. There will be a small gathering in the afternoon for the scattering of the ashes and an evening event in Digbeth. Anyone still wishing to give can do so through a fund set up at Bethel. Please contact me directly for details.

UPDATE: As always, I thank you for all you continue to do for Jerry and his family. The first task is complete. The team of friends did a very difficult but necessary job in Malaysia and Thailand. Part of Jerry's ashes were scattered there and part have now been returned to Birmingham. A lot of practical things are having to be dealt with to make it possible for the family to now join him here in Birmingham. It is our hope to be able to bring you a date for the Memorial Service soon. Please help us that bit more by sharing this on your page.
