Story
My name is Kirsty Clamp, in 2017 I made a difficult decision to leave a 14-year career within the leisure industry to focus on setting upon a new journey as an adult nurse. I successfully passed an access course helping me gain a place within the University of Lincoln.
I am now halfway through the second year completing my 4th placement gaining valuable skills within our NHS. In this short period of time I have developed my knowledge and understanding as to how our healthcare system works and how our healthcare professionals work together to provide the best service in order to help others in need.
At the end of this academic year I have the opportunity to take part in a 5-week elective placement in Iloilo (Philippines). This would be an amazing opportunity to compare the difference between our NHS western world services, to a developing country with limited resources. I would be able to take everything I’ve learnt so far, enabling me to apply them within different healthcare settings to what we’re used to. I will be working in a busier hospital (where I stay for 4weeks) and an isolated rural area having the opportunity to live with a family for a week seeing how the community deal with medical problems with limited access to the main city hospitals.
For this opportunity to be able to go ahead I would like some help to raise a minimum of £3000 in order to me get there with work the world, a reputable, safe and reliable organisation. I also want to be able to donate basic personal protective equipment (PPE) like gloves, masks, aprons and wipes to the hospitals and rural village once I’m out there, a small gesture that will make a big difference.
I have decided to push myself to the limit to help make this happen, I will go down a 250ft zip wire, flying down at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour. Climb a mighty face of steel before abseiling 150ft. Then 150 ft parachute descender where I will experience the incredible rush of a parachute free fall. Finally, taking a leap of faith by launching myself from the world’s biggest indoor bungee jump!
Thank you for taking you time to read this, any help and donations from you would be mostly appreciated and valued.
