Blantyre Miners Welfare community facility has been completely destroyed by a fire. Lots of childrens opportunities have been ruined. The boxing club has been around since 1971 and all of their equipment along with many irreplaceable memories and items have been lost! John mcdermott MBE was a commonwealth gold winner medalist in boxing and has had this club up and running at the heart of Blantyre for many years, still passionate about his love of the sport. So many irreplaceable memories have been wiped away in this disaster. The children and people of Blantyre want their club back up and running asap and representing the Blantyre community once again. These could be the stars of tomorrow!
