    Story

Please help us to raise funds so that we can install a heating system in our community building .

One Dalkeith was incorporated as a Development Trust in December 2017 with the goal of bringing people from all parts of the community together and joining in to regenerate Dalkeith; socially, environmentally and economically.

2019 has been an incredible year for One Dalkeith, taking over the old Pick 'n' Save in Eskdaill Court and using it to host an initial wave of volunteer-led pop-up events for the community. These have included several open days, table top sales, music nights and community cinemas, among others. We were pleased to host the launch of Made in Midlothian in the summer, which was followed by the first Made in Midlothian Christmas market.

One Dalkeith's most ambitious set of events to date was held over the Halloween weekend as part of a demonstrator project for a potential Business Improvement District. Dark Deadly Dalkeith included historic walking tours, an adult's fancy-dress party, ghost train, pumpkin trail and much more.

In 2019 we easily saw over 2000 adults and children of all ages from Dalkeith and the surrounding areas come through our doors either as a volunteer or to enjoy the activities on offer. In an initial push to fund the volunteer DIY activity we raised a generous £1,300. Unfortunately, we do not have a working heating system in the building and especially in the cold winter months, this really puts a damper on the experience, especially for the children and elderly.

Because of this, we are asking for help from our supporters and the community to raise funds so that we can begin some improvements that are needed to get our heating system in working order. Having a building that is warm and comfortable will mean that the community will have a better experience, as well as create a more welcoming environment. It will also allow us to broaden the activities that we offer to the community such as various clubs for children, youths and the elderly.

Every donation counts and helps us to reach our goal - no amount is too big or too small! We are extremely thankful to our fundraisers and look forward to welcoming you to our community hub!
