Weʼve raised £1,685 to Passion Walk - A 45 mile sponsored walk to help raise funds for King's Lynn Festival Chorus' performance of Bach's 'St. Matthew Passion'

Funded on Tuesday, 17th September 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Music can make people do some funny things...

In 1705, J.S. Bach walked 400 km to go and hear someone play the organ...Nutter!

Well, ahead of King's Lynn Festival Chorus' performance of Bach's St. Matthew Passion on 4th April 2020, I have taken inspiration from the great man and decided to walk from my home in Bury St. Edmunds to King's Lynn (over 40 miles) and take a rehearsal at the stunning St. Nicholas' Chapel - our performance venue.

Now Bach didn't set-up a just giving page for his walk. That was his error - well that and walking a long way to go to an organ recital...! I have been asked to set up a page should anyone want to offer donations to help the Festival Chorus put this show on with a bang!

It is a mighty work, we'd like to bring in mighty soloists and orchestra and also keep the ticket prices as low as possible. This walk, alongside a number of other fundraising activities by the choir, will help bring our dream to reality.

Many thanks for your interest (and hopefully donations). For more information on King's Lynn Festival Chorus, please visit their website: King's Lynn Festival Chorus , and follow my progress on twitter using the hashtag #PassionWalk @appleton_tom @kl_festchorus

So.... I DID IT!!!! 90 kilometers (55 miles) in 19 hours. Absolutely SHATTERED now, but completely humbled by the support I've had both online and in person. In total, we've raised over £2100 (online and offline) and that will male a massive difference to the performance in April. Thank you thank you thank you!!! Much love, Tom Ps, have a look at my facebook for maps/photos of what I've been up to over the last 2 days. Xxx
