    Story

We will be going on a trip to Rwanda in February 2020, alongside Dame Helen Hyde -the former Headteacher of our school- and we will be supporting the Rwandan Sisterhood Association. Whilst out there we will be working with the charity helping pregnant women before, during and after childbirth. The charity supports women and children affected by the Rwandan Genocide in 1994, and helps them gain independance. We will be providing the women with mama packs (including cord clamps, sterile gloves, nappies, vests and other essentials) to enable a safe delivery for mother and baby. We will also give each woman a baby blanket, knitted by our community, and we will then be teaching the women to knit so they can make blankets of their own. The Rwandan Sisterhood Association run a nursery school for street children, which we will be visiting. We will be taking them educational games, toys, books, footballs, musical instruments and many other educational essentials. While we are in Rwanda we will be helping the feeding programme by feeding the street children, and providing them with clothes and shoes, and other essentials. The money that we raise will be spent on a new building to house the nursery and feeding programme together as they are about to lose their currant buildings. The charity has already raised enough money to buy the land, but they need £10,000 to actually construct it. We hope to raise as much of this as possible and it would be so good if you could support us in raising these funds as it would make such a difference to these people's lives. Thank you for your support.

      Update from the Page owner

Abbie and Katherine have raised £4500.00 for this amazing charity, which will go towards the building project as well as buying health insurance for 100 pregnant women for 1 year, and school places for 1 year for five children. They are now planning to raise further funds for the building project that is planned. This will provide permanent facilities for the feeding project, women's maternity clinic, nursery school, knitting project and an office for administration. Thank you - you have changed lives!
