Lucas has a extremely rare genetic condition which is still undiagnosed. So far at almost aged 3 this involves, serve growth retardation which Lucas is weighing in now at 13lb which is the average for a 3/6 month old. very delayed physical and mental development. Complex feeding issues involving over night gastric machine feeding. A severely low immune system. One of his kidneys is currently undergoing many tests for a kidney disease which is causing large amount of calcium deposits which makes Lucas more prone to catch infections and become unwell. Lucas has a moderate to severe hearing loss which also affects his speech meaning he can’t talk yet and can only make certain noises. His physical features are linked to his chromosome defect including low set ears, wide set eyes, micrognathia, syndactyly, & an undeveloped rib cage. He has a chromosome duplication which once been tested is not the cause of his medical needs.
Lucas has had every possible genetic testing in the NHS so far and as today stands we have no results. He has now been entered into the 100,000 genomics programme which is a UK project involving 70,000 other family genes to discover rare conditions. A year on and him and his family still have no answers.

Despite all of this Lucas keeps his beautiful smile shining on whilst his father, Luke works full time and mother Danielle works long hours at Sheffield's Western park hospital while maintaining the countless appointments, scans, bloods and operations that Lucas requires and running the family that includes Lukas's little sister Isla who is 1 years old, which is why we have decided to surprise the family with a break to Disneyland and put a even bigger smile on Lucas's face and give the family quality time away which they all truly deserve.
