Story
Help us raise funds to support the hospital in their care for sick & premature babies by buying a new incubator and other machines that go with it. The equipment will cost around £21,000 possibly more. So far we have raised £4,400 via events plus we have generous people out there who have raised over £1,000 in the London Marathon and a couple raising a little over £1,000 so far doing a 50 mile walk. So as of now the total is around £5,400.
Many babies are unfortunately born premature or poorly, or become poorly within days and require the support of the Neonatal unit and the assistance of such machines. You too can help us reach our target by making a donation or attend our charity events!
OUR STORY
Our baby boy Theo was due to be born on 23rd December but had to be delivered early via emergency C-section 3 months early on 13th October 2016 and weighed just under 2lbs making him so small he literally fit in your hand. He was very poorly as his lungs and other parts of his body had not yet fully developed, with some up to 5-6 weeks behind where they should have been at 30 weeks, due to him not getting what he needed from the placenta and cord. He was unable to breathe without assistance and required CPAP, Humicare & oxygen and was tube fed and required a blood transfusion as his red blood cell levels were very low making his health deteriorate and needed medication due to various infections. Theo was cared for by the amazing staff at the hospital but it was the equipment too which, also took care of him. The incubator which, helped keep him warm and regulated his body temperature etc and held the various wires and tubes in place. There was also the heart rate & oxygen monitor/machines plus the various infusion machines which, administered and fed him his medication and milk. If it wasn't for the staff and the equipment Theo would not be here today. He was eventually allowed home but still at 8 months old now requires the assistance of oxygen at home..
