Story
As Lucas-Rylies mother I am trying to raise funds to help give him the treatment he needs for a diagnosed condition that the NHS won't fund. Lucas-Rylie is a lovely happy 9 month old baby boy who has thrived since he has been born.
Lucas-Rylie was referred to a specialist on the NHS who diagnosed him with flat head sydrome, type Plagiocephaly. The NHS have refused to fund the treatment option of having a helmet made to reshape his skull shape due to being in 1.4 billion pound deficit in our area and also due to them classing it as cosmetic at the moment. The NHS have stated that potentially in the future lucas could need open skull surgery to correct the shape of his head. My only option to prevent any future surgery which would have major risks and to reshape Lucas-Rylie head shape is to have private treatment.
A clinic in Leeds called Technology in Motion provides specialist treatment which involves 3d scans to help make the bespoke helmet, measurement charts and monthly consultations. The clinic feel they can get Lucas-Rylie head shape from severe catagory to moderate to mild within 6 to 8 months with the treatment. The treatment cost £2200 and I am trying to raise money to support in paying for this treatment. The treatment needs carrying out asap as the clinic do not see significant results after a child is 14 months and have recommended lucas would need 6 to 8 months of treatment with the helmet. This means he needs to start treatment asap for the best results due to him being 9 months old already.
Any contributions and support would be really appreciated to help my little boy immediately. Thank you for reading. Tara and Lucas-Rylie.

7 years agoHi everyone, so as far as a update goes we are doing so well at raising the funds needed for Lucas-Rylie. The generosity of the community and family and friends has overwhelmed me. We have now hit £840 on the just giving page and Lucas-Rylie has also starred in the free press paper which has brought numerous donations. We are holding a fundraising day at his nursery which will hopefully bring in further donations. Hopefully we will get to half way before long. Thank you so much everyone.

7 years agoSo far we have raised £710 which is excellent. Lucas-Rylie nursery has offered to do a fundraising day as well as his brother schools offering to promote the JustGiving site across all their media portals. The Bridlington free press are going to run the story of Lucas-Rylie in the paper. Lucas-Rylie is due back at the clinic in Leeds to have his helmet fitted for the first time. Things are really progressing so thank you for everyone's support so far 😍😘 all our love xx
