    Story

As many of you already know William was born in 2011, 13 weeks premature and weighing a tiny 1lb 3oz. William spent most of his first 2 years in hospital with many complications such as chronic lung disease and severe epilepsy. Since then, William has continued to be frequently admitted to hospital but despite this and suffering with a global development delay he has thrived into a wonderfully happy, funny and determined little boy. William has faced many challenges in his young life including needing ECMO after going into respiratory failure and epilespy surgery when his seizures became too frequent and severe. However, in October 2017 William faced his biggest challenge yet when for an unknown reason he sufferred with acute hydrocephalis causing his brain to be forced into his spinal column. The doctors at Sheffield Childrens Hospital were fantastic and acted quickly but were worried that William would be brain dead due to the severe damage and unable to breath for himself, let alone anything else. William had an external ventricular drain fitted to release the pressure in his brain while he recovered enough to have an internal shunt fitted. The prognosis was not good but the doctors had not accounted for Super William, his determination and sheer bloody willpower. While waiting for shunt surgery William then caught pneumonia and then meningitis to add to his troubles but in true William fashion, he plodded on and climbed over each and every barrier placed in front of him. Fast forward to today and the progress that William has made is nothing short of phenomenal and we could not be more proud. We now need specialist equipment for William, extensive therapy and adaptatons making to our home in order in order to help William become as independant as possible. In order for us to achieve these things we are asking for your help. Thankyou for taking the time to read our story and remember, that any donation no matter how small is a big big help. Thankyou
