Zainab Ansari disappeared as she walked to a Quran studies class on 4th January. Innocent Zainab who was only 7 years old was found raped, murdered and left on a pile of rubbish, only 1 mile from her home.

According to police, Zainab is the twelfth girl to have been abducted, raped and murdered in the Kasur district in the past year. Many cases are not reported due to parents having no faith in the authorities and system. Many parents have stopped sending their children to school because of concerns for their safety.

For that reason, Smile Aid has selected 40 schools in Kasur and surrounding areas. Each school has an average of 250 students; so we will reach a total of roughly 10,000 children. 10,000 students with full stationary and further educational gift packs, to support them in school for the year. To encourage and motivate them, and let them know that we do care and that is why we are supporting them.

We will be providing UK certified First Aid Education and Personal Safety Training to young boys and especially young girls. Teaching and giving them awareness of how to save lives if they come across someone like Zainab; giving them confidence, teaching them what to do if they have been touched wrongly by teachers or others (very common in Pakistan); who to go to for help, how we can and will help, support directly.

It will cost on average £750 for a full school of 250-300 students or £3 per student. Full stationary gift sets, leaflets, posters, awareness materials etc per student. We will also provide first Aid boxes for schools and teachers.
