Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. To help motivate myself to get back into running more than my weekly half hour and blogging more than a scattered post here and there, I am training to run the 2011 BUPA Great South Run (10 miles) as a part of Team NCT on October 30, 2011.
The NCT is the UK's leading charity for pregnancy, birth and early parenting. It is an important charity to us as a family because it provided us with antenatal support that gave us confidence in approaching the birth of our son, Eamon. This involvement also set up the basis of a wonderful support network as we became new parents. Our group of friends has made becoming a mom so far from my own family so much easier and has helped me get through the first 18 months of parenthood with joy and laughter.
A donation as little as £5 could make a huge difference to someone's life. Here are some ways you can imagine your money being put to great use:
£5 pays for a trained practitioner to be on the helpline for one call.
£25 pays for an hour of NCT practitioner support for a new parent in need.
£40 provides a new parent under stress with six weeks of support from a trained NCT postnatal leader.
£93 subsidises a postnatal Early Days course for a young parent or family on a low income.
£250 funds a two hour Bumps & Babies group supporting 100 new mums.
£500 trains a breastfeeding peer supporter to assist new mums.
