This July William Cave and I will be embarking upon a cycle ride in Greece. The Journey will take us from Sparta in the mountainous Peloponnese, across the Isthmus of Corinth and finishing up, hopefully, in Athens. On wednesday 15th July we will set out on the 250km route at 5:00am, and given the terrain and hot weather at this time of year, we will hope to reach the foot of the famous acropolis by 9:00pm on Saturday 18th.
We will be cycling in aid of the Charlie Sumption Memorial Fund. This is named after a member of Abbey House in our year at Sherborne who tragically passsed away in 2006. The Charlie Sumption Memorial Fund was set up in his memory by his brothers, Ed and Alex, in the summer of 2007. The charity aims to help in the education of Kenyan children, and by doing so, improving thier lives. This project endeavours to improve the facilities at Mutunyi Primary School in the north of the country, and also to fund scholarships which allow some pupils at Mutunyi to further their education to attend Secondary School.
This expedition is partly funded by a grant given to us by Sherborne School and all donations will go directly to the charity. We would be delighted and very grateful if you would consider sponsoring us for our efforts.
