Story
Dear Amigo,
Firstly, thank you for visiting this fundraising page. Trust me, every little bit will help and for those in the UK, don't forget to tick the Gift Aid box and add an extra 28% in a tax covenant.
I first became aware of the problems in Cambodia when my then prosthetist came out here to work in 1993. The world of course became more aware when Princess Di visited a few years later.
Since then the media attention has gone and of course and with it, donations. The world is now greeted with ever increasing disasters on a major scale, which grab the headlines, but the other noble causes are left in their wake.
The work here is far from over, but the funds are drying up and that is why I am asking you to give what ever you can.
Cambodians have problems with landmines and increasingly, unexploded bombs from the Vietnam war would you believe! Cambodia has one of the highest rates of amputees in the world, amongst its many problems and after a week here, I can confirm the problems are numerous.
From the time I was first alerted to this country's issues, I have wanted to come to Cambodia and offer what little help I can and I am here for a month or so. Despite my own disability I have of course been lucky and as many will know, I managed to haul ass round the London marathon course last year. But for many in Cambodia, simply walking is an achievement and that is why I have been humbled by the bravery of these people.
I am currently doing some work for the Cambodia Trust which works to train staff to help amputees as well as provide a clinic here in Pnomh Penh. It costs as little as $100 to make a leg out here so the very smallest amount will really go along way. If you can spare anything then please do.
May I thank you on behalf of not only the Trust, but also the people you are about to help.
Many thanks.
