Azul Wasi kids home is a small home for street children, in the valley just outside of Cusco. LAFF have been helping the home for the past few years to become sustainable and provide a better future for the street kids in Azul Wasi.

On Monday 25th Jan, heavy floods hit the whole region. The situation in Cusco continues to worsen…with the terrible flooding that has hit the area, the kids are fighting a race against time to save their home.  Although international news chooses only to report on tourists who have been evacuated from Machu Picchu, the situation is far worse for the locals in the Sacred Valley, where Azul Wasi kids home is located.  You can see the extent of flooding in this link.

We have now evacuated the children from the home – they have been temporarily housed in two safe locations. However we are in a race against time to protect the home itself, and the cows, chicken, guinea pigs and greenhouse which help to sustain the home. The waters are now less than 50m from the home itself.  We need funds to buy materials to protect the home – to essentially create a flood barrier wall and re-direct water around the home.

If there is anything you can spare to help us - please donate now and please feel free to send this link to anyone else who might be kind enough to help.

Thank you on behalf of Azul Wasi.
