On the
12th January at 16:53 local time an earthquake, Haiti's worst in two centuries,
struck the island. Tens of thousands are dead with up to three million affected
and tens of thousands of buildings destroyed.
To raise money for the emergency response operation The Urban Team will cycle 1500
km in 6 days, from London to Cannes together with 82 other riders who are
braving the elements. We hope this challenge will raise more than £130,000 for
charitable causes.
All
donations received on this website will go directly to 'Article 25' whose expertise
in post disaster reconstruction and in building earthquake proof homes will
play a key role in the regeneration phase to come in Haiti, where 70% of all
buildings are destroyed.
Following on the heels of our last charity event, the Henley Half Marathon,
where we have raised £3,792.50 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust
(
www.justgiving.com/CubittHouse), we have raised the target to £9,000 for this
cycling endurance event. So please dig deep, help the people of Haiti and
donate now. Your support is gratefully appreciated.
