Hi Everyone,
Just to let you know that we made it!! In 12 long days we covered 1028 miles from End to End. I wouldn't say that every moment was hard work but most of it really was much harder than I expected it to be. We had fantastic support along the way from Brian and Mum; thanks for all the sandwiches and chemist visits! Also thanks to all the B&B's we stayed with who helped to ensure we had a good nights rest, fed and watered and on occassions iced and bandaged! In particular Sonia and Neville at Drynachan B & B in Invergarry(thanks for the ice and bandages), Jinty & John in Dalmally (thanks for the ice and sponsorship), Anne at Burnfoot House in Ardrossen (thanks for the cream), Steve and Sarah in Annan, Ivan and Anne at Forncet in Wem(thanks for the sponsorship), Wendy in Trull(thanks for the sponsorship), and the fabulous advice of our final hosts in Launcester. Our welcome into Tregarne was wonderfully warm and with many thanks to Lynette, Dave and Lizzie for organising a wonderful party and hosting us and our family. Thanks to all in Tregarne who made our final day so special, especially, Chris, Sue, Norman and Meg who always make me so welcome.
There are many others we want to thank but hopefully this will cover most. Thanks to Mal and Stan for coming to show their support in Wem and Cornwall. Thanks to Dave, Paul and Vanessa for their support in Wem. Thanks to Bev for looking after my house and to my neighbour Shaun for watering the veggie patch while we were gone. And of course a big thanks to all that sponsored us and collected money on our behalf.
We still have to work out exactly how much has been collected but on top of the amount collected on line we think there is another £700 in cash. This money will go towards the work that Harry Townsend is doing in setting up a mobile unit for mole checking in Cornwall and Devon. If this is successful then this will become available wider subject to people like you and your generous donations.
We did this ride in memory of a special young lady called Katie. She should be celebrating her GCSE results with all her friends this week and getting ready for college but due to this dreadful disease she has missed so much of life. We hope efforts like ours help to raise awareness and more lives can be saved. In remembering Katie we hope to help prevent such a terrible loss happening to other families.
It has been an amazing adventure and we thank you all for your support.
Sally and Ian
