Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I've created this page in memory of my dad who died on my birthday (Sept 13th) last year. Mum & Dad retired to Spain about 5 years ago... they were happy there and began to learn the language. My dad's spanish neighbour gave him some of his land to use as an allottment and he and his friend, Ted, used it to grow lots of veg. Now I'm growing my own veg I realise just how difficult it must have been in sometimes 40+ temperatures. And mines less than half the size.

My dad was an immensely proud, passionate, determined, intelligent and funny man who loved life and lived it! He was straight to the point and never left you in any doubt... maybe that's where I get it from...

In 2009 he was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer and after some months of chemotherapy he recieved the good news that there were hardly any traces remaining. Sadly by that time his kidneys had been damaged and needed dialysis 3 times each week. In September he contracted scepticemia and made the decision himself not to continue with the treatment. He died 3 days later. It was an extremely painful and difficult time for us as anyone who has lost someone they love will know. But had it not been for the dialysis he would not have lived long enough to teach his youngest grandchild to swim (as he had for my niece and daughter years earlier) and I would not have had those last happy times with my dad.

I miss my dad every day and this is my way of giving something back.

I have chosen JustGiving as a method for dontaing as it's simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
