Story
Freddy is 3 years old and was born weighing only 3lb 8oz. During the 10 weeks he spent in hospital he suffered from a bleed on his brain which resulted in him being diagnosed with Spastic Diplegia, a form of Cerebral Palsy. His condition means that his muscles are tight which makes it difficult for him to do simple things like sitting with his legs out front, and walking on his own. However there is a life changing surgery available called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) which will reduce the spasticity in his legs, and as such improve both his mobility and independence. However, this operation will cost approximately £80,000 and following this he will need intense physiotherapy for up to 2 years.
Cerebral Palsy is a condition that is close to my family's heart and for this reason, I will be doing a sponsored swim with sharks. I will be paying for this event myself, so all money raised will go directly to Freddy. Freddy's page can be viewed at www.justgiving.com/help-freddy-walk-tall
