Comrades Marathon 2006 ... 16th June
Mission accomplished in 8 hrs 37 mins 23 seconds ... phew!!
To those very generous folk who supported me and donated to this good cause thanks. The page will still be open for a while so if you feel like being generous and helping others less fortunate than ourselves don't delay .... donate today!! I've done the hard work, donating is painless. Many thanks.
Last year in a moment of madness my running colleague Jeremy Wilde and I embarked on the 56 mile Comrades Marathon in South Africa to celebrate turning 50. Another year older and plainly none the wiser, we are heading back for a second go and this time it will be the "up" run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg. As well as 56 miles, we will climb over 6000 ft and descend 4000 ft before the finish ... a long hard day in the office !!
Some folk may have already sponsored me in my efforts to raise money and support Macmillans at the recent London Marathon. To the very generous people who have already sponsored me I would like to say a very big thank you on behalf of Dan and his family.
Running a Marathon (even The Comrades) really is easy compared to the pain and suffereing experienced by those less fortunate than us who suffer from Cancer. My efforts will hopefully be finished within a few hours of starting on the 16th June, but for those supporting Cancer sufferers, the battle is often long and difficult. So please show your support for a young man Dan Howard and the Macmillan charity that has helped him by sponsoring me in The Comrades this June. He deserves your support.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
