Addiction is the biggest preventable killer in the UK.
We take action to disarm addiction. We do this through research, treatment, family support, education and training.
The last time I tackled this event it took me over 70 hours of running, walking and hobbling to complete. This year i'm hoping to do more than just survive the course.
The run itself takes in 175 miles of the English countryside. I will have to climb hills that should have been called mountains (The Malvern Hills and in particular Broadway Tower), cross freshly ploughed farm fields and navigate my way through countless footpaths.
My aim this year is complete this event in a much better time than before (dare I say, in half the time?).
I am running to raise money for two charities. Action on Addiction is one. The National Deaf Children's Society is the other. (My 5 year old son is profoundly deaf) Details of my fundraising for the NDCS can be seen on www.donatefordeafchildren.org.
I'm hoping that every mile I run will raise money for these worthy charities.
A daily update will be available and I'll let you know how to get it in a few days time.
Until then, then training will continue as I prepare to run like the wind.
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Action on Addiction will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
