My story

*UPDATE*                       MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!

We succesfully completed our jumps on Sunday 4th May

We'll email details and pictures soon..................

On the 13th of April 2008 we (Darren & Rob) will be doing a parachute jump at Lewknor for Cancer Research UK. We will be undertaking a Level 1 Accelerated Free Fall Course - not the safer (and far more girly!) tandem jump - and will jump solo (with two instructors each) but not attached to anything other than a parachute. The jump is obviously weather dependant but far too much money has been pledged already for us to back out now!!

We're happy to accept both personal and corporate sponsorship and would be prepared to jump wearing your Company logo, uniform, badge, novelty underpants or just about anything else in return for a large sum of money.  The event will probably be filmed, although the image of two grown men screaming in terror for 45 seconds, followed by a gentle, five minute serene descent accompanied by many expletives might not be the corporate vision you wish to promote.  There may also be an opportunity for some 'extreme' leaflet distribution, with guaranteed, widespread coverage (albeit only downwind of the drop zone).  If you'd like to suggest an idea, please get in touch, you'll be pleased to learn that we're both sufficiently shallow to do just about anything for cash.

The reasons behind the jump are twofold; Darren has just recovered from cancer having completed a course of radiotherapy. Sadly, within 48 hours of us setting up this website, Alan South, (pictured doing what he loved best) proprietor of Staverton Flying School, lost his fight against pancreatic cancer.

Our thoughts are obviously with Hazel and her family and this sad news makes us even more determined to raise as much money as we can for this very worthy cause.

Thank you very much for visiting this page and sponsoring us! Please remember to select the 'gift aid' option!
