Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Here at Datchet Watersports we are aiming to continue our success of the last two year’s event at the Queen Mother Reservoir..... As Centre Principal I am organising with my Chief Instructor Dougal Harris and taking part along with our Datchet Watersports staff team, platinum club members and other regular windsurfers in a team effort to windsurf from Sunrise to Sunset on Saturday 15th June 2013 as part of the national W4CR event.

Over the last three years we have raised in excess of £6,000!! We want to add to that great total this year so please sponsor our team of windsurfers and this year dinghy sailors as well!! Last year we managed to keep at least eight people on the water windsurfing at all times, that’s from 5.30am till 8.30pm - about 15 hours!!! Some of the very dedicated team members were on the water for over 10 hours! We had over 40 different people out on the water last year over the course of the day!

This year we have stretched the boundaries even more! Instead of being in May, this year the event is a week before the longest day of the year - Saturday 15th June 2013 - so we have a crazy 17 hours to cover so it is now anyone at all that we can get on the water, windsurfers, dinghy sailors, stand up paddle boarders etc. and we want to get as many people as possible on the water over the course of the day - could we even hit 100? We need help, anyone that can come down and spend anytime on the water at all especially first thing in the morning 04:46 onwards and last thing at night up to 21:21! And of course the reason is to raise money for this great charity so please donate whatever you can!

As you probably know it is a very saddening fact that the majority of people reading this will have had either personal experience of the horrors of cancer or had friends or relatives who've been affected. So, please do donate to this very worthwhile cause. If you are in the area, come along and support us. The centre has great catering and bar facilities and it should be a fantastic day of action on the water.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - We raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
