Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

In July 2009, David went to bed as a happy and healthy 21 year old and we were unable to wake him the following morning. Despite the superb efforts of the local hospital, it was clear that his heart had inexplicably failed during his sleep.

We are organising a Cardiac Screening Event in his memory in February 2014. CRY organises these screenings for anyone aged 14 to 35 years old.  Sometimes an individual may have a cardiac abnormality without having any symptons.  Screening with an ECG is aimed at identifying people with conditions such as cardiomyopathies or electical faults of the heart.  Such screening is quick and painless and could help avoid another tragic loss of life.

Thanks for your support,

Lisa, Phil, Leah and Hannah
