As a family we have been overwhelmed by the kind messages following the unexpected death of David Grove on Saturday 12th November 2011. We appreciate the care, love and support from all of his friends, colleagues and acquaintances during this difficult time.
David was so many things to so many people: entrepreneur, industrial business leader, charitable supporter, Baggies fan, or simply good friend. At home he referred to himself as a source of constant derision by his family due to his Frank Spencer-like behaviour and his use of the word ‘fine’ – a lot. He was taken from us too soon and will be hugely missed.
In advance of the memorial service for David to be held at Birmingham Cathedral on Wednesday 11th January 2012, for those who have asked how they can acknowledge David’s passing with a charitable donation we would ask that they please support the Marie Curie Big Build appeal.
As a long term supporter of Marie Curie Cancer Care, David was a member of the appeal committee for its Big Build Project which is seeking to raise £7 million to build a new Marie Curie Hospice for the West Midlands.
For over 45 years the existing Marie Curie Hospice, Solihull has provided first-class care to terminally ill patients and their families. But the 100-year building is reaching the end of its useful life and needs to be replaced. The new Marie Curie Hospice, West Midlands will provide a wider range of care and support services, reaching more local people with terminal cancer and other illnesses.
