As many of you may know my son Alec has suffered with Eczema from the age of two. He is now fifteen and continues to suffer with this condition.
He has to use up to five different creams twice a day and sometimes finds life difficult, particularly after he began to suffer with problems with his eyes. These became so dry that blinking caused scratches on his eye and resulted in an shield ulcer forming on his eye.
He does not complain about his lot but it is heart breaking to see what he has to suffer and we all wish we could take it away for him.
Whilst the money raised from the marathon will not go directly to finding a cure for Alec I hope that it will help others so that they do not have to go through the same painful times that our Alec has had to endure.
This will be my last major running fundraising activity and I can think of nothing better than to run it for my son and for the cause of helping the National Eczema Society in the work they do.
Many thanks for your support.
Dave
