Having lost both parents to cancer and working as a fundraising assistant for Macmillan, I have first hand knowledge of the devastation a cancer diagnosis brings and the excellent work that Macmillan does to alleviate the emotional effect of such a diagnosis.
I am over 50, overweight and was diagnosed with depression in July 2007. So I decided that a challenge was what was needed to get me back on track and looking positively at life. This seemed the ideal opportunity to raise money for a fantastic charity and although I can't change the over 50 bit it should certainly have a dramatic effect on the other two aspects of my life!
I can now say that it certainly did, I lost nearly 4 stone in weight and am as fit as I was 30 yrs ago I also have a tremendous snse of achievement I can hardly believe that I have walked so far and raised so much money for Macmillan!
