Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Dazmo's JustGiving page.
At the age of just 42 Daren (Dazmo) passed away peacefully at home on the 4th July 2010 after his third and final battle with Cancer.
Daren always spoke from the heart and was a genuine friend to many. A loving husband, an adored son, brother, uncle & nephew. A much loved character within the Johnson family. Daren was a Tottenham boy through and through.......GLORY, GLORY TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR.
Daren's long and courageous battle against Cancer started in 1999 when he was only 30. He endured months of treatment yet despite extensive Chemo needed surgery on what we were told was an inoperable tumour. After 15 hours of surgery we were given the news that by some miracle the Dr's were able to remove the Cancer and Daren was able to recover and remained Cancer free for 8 years. In 2007 Daren's fight recommenced when he was diagnosed with oral Cancer. Again Daren faced extensive surgery followed by Raidiotherpy, and whilst successful, his appearance was never quite the same, something he was very conscience of.
Alas on the 17th of May after a short period of feeling unwell, Daren was informed that he had lung Cancer, 2 days later with his Sister by his side he was advised that the Cancer was incurable. His immediate response to the Dr's was to keep him alive for the 2012 Olympics, a goal that was sadly never going to be achievable.
Little did we know that his time left was going to be so short, yet we can feel comfort in the fact that he was at home with his loving family around him.
Throughout all his battles, Daren never complained, and was always brave and determined.
We his family, kindly request that by way of a tribute to him and instead of flowers, you donate money to Weldmar Hospice Trust, a organisation who look after terminal cancer patients like Daren, and who were a great support to us during Daren's final weeks.
Daren's funeral service will take place on Friday 16th of July at Poole Crematorium, 3.00pm. As Daren was an avid sports fan, please no black, just wear your favourite teams shirt be it football, rugby, cricket or pool. Daren as always will be in his Spurs shirt. A celebration of this life with be held after at the Railway Pub in Blandford.
We would also like to express our gratitude to all the Dr's and nurses at Southampton, Dorchester & Poole hospitals who cared for Daren over the years.
