Help the Aged is an international charity dedicated to creating a world where older people can live their lives free from poverty, isolation and neglect. It raises public awareness, campaigns for changes in policy, and provides practical support to help disadvantaged older people lead independent lives. Help the Aged believes that older people should not be sidelined by society, but should be able to live with dignity as valued, respected and involved members of their communities.

On 1 April 2009, Age Concern England and Help the Aged joined together to create a new charity dedicated to improving the lives of older people.

Operating under the name ‘Age Concern and Help the Aged’, we speak with one voice on behalf of all older people.

My story

Hello everybody and a very happy new year to you all. Sometime ago, not long after me and Dee had got together, she suggested that we should raise money for Help The Aged by raising cash for a trek to Machu Pichuu, the lost city of the Incas 4,000ft above sea level. I think she thought I'd dismiss it as craziness, but that's not me! A few months on, fundraising is well under way, but more is still needed or else my vintage vinyl is set for the cold, unloved hands of Mr Ebay! FAQ: Some answers to asked questions

Contrary to some opinion, we are not taking the Aged to Peru with us.

Money raised will not go towards a Stannah stairlift from Machu base camp to the summit, although I would be happy to put this forward as an idea. Money will actually go towards a variety of amazing causes in the UK.
