If you’re here it’s likely that you know me or a member of the team, so firstly thanks for visiting our ‘3 Peaks Challenge’ webpage.  We really do appreciate any sponsorship you’re able to offer and so will FOYERS, who’ll be the beneficiaries of our little trek.

It’s hard to imagine that it’s been over 9 months since we last took part in the challenge and despite all promising ourselves that we’d never do it again, the opportunity to defend our title was too much to resist.  Maybe we’ve just forgotten the pain, the tiredness, getting caught in a storm on Ben Nevis, getting lost on Scafell Pike and Matt’s driving - but I’m sure it won’t be long before it all comes flooding back. 

What’s the challenge?

For those of you who don’t know what this entails, the ‘3 Peaks Challenge’ will see us attempt to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike andSnowdon, all within 24 hours!  Last year we were victorious with a time of 22 hours and 45 minutes, and we’ll be aiming to get that under 22 hours this time around.  All that said, I know this is still going to be a real challenge – they’re bloody big – but if you still think it sounds easy, I’d encourage you to check out some websites on the subject… I’ll just say they’re not exactly motivating.

What’s the sponsorship for?

Well, the challenge is being completed by over 30 teams and the winner will be the one who performs best in a combination of overall time taken and total sponsorship raised.  As a result (between training?!) we’re focussed this week on fundraising and the more you can donate, the more FOYERS will benefit but perhaps equally importantly, the better chance we’ll have of winning!

Around the rest of the page, there’s lots of information about how to sponsor us and how FOYERS will make use of your generous donations, so we won’t take up any more of your time explaining it here.  It’s just worth noting though, that if you’d prefer to offer sponsorship off-line, you can contact me directly by email at george.wareing@virginmedia.co.uk and we can arrange that.  It actually helps the charity to do things that way, as there’s a small transaction fee for using the Just Giving site but we appreciate that being able to avoid posting cheques, etc. is much easier for most people.
