The last twelve months have been very challenging! Acute leg pain led to a knee replacement in November 2015 which was followed by the discovery in April 2016 of a soft tissue tumour on my sciatic nerve (a sarcoma) which was removed by two operations and has left me with no feeling or use of my left leg below the knee.

On Friday 19^th August, I celebrated the end of six weeks radiotherapy. From April to August I have been in the excellent care of UK
specialist cancer treatment centres, RJAH Hospital Oswestry and Christie Hospital Manchester, and benefited from the research and work of a number of charities including my chosen charity Sarcoma UK. 

My left leg looks like it has been attacked by the masked outlaw Zorro! I
now walk (rather slowly) with the aid of a carbon fibre splint that supports my foot. Enough for me to try and give something back! To help the research and treatment of what is an aggressive, difficult to diagnose, form of cancer which is responsible for 14% of childhood cancers and many adult cancers.

The challenge 'Dad dancing with Dennis' was inspired by my wife, Alison's cruel observation of my attempts to dance at a wedding (its the worst Dad dancing i have ever seen). I hope to be joined by friends and family on Saturday 22^nd October in North Wales to walk and dance along the way to raise money for Sarcoma UK. The walk will be 8 to 10 miles in length, suitable for those who may want to take part and with young children, pushchairs and the less abled (which now includes me!). I will choose a route that can be covered in inclement weather. Details will be confirmed and put out on my Facebook page and by email.
