Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.
Through no fault of his own (or anyone else's) Thomas Grimshaw inherited the defective gene which causes Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Currently their is no cure and the average life expectancy for people with CF is 31 years but Thomas didn't get half way there - he was just 15 when he died last September. Thomas's parents Chris & Michelle are fellow members of the Wakefield, Dewsbury & Batley CF Support Group and they and their family still work tirelessly to raise money for the CF Trust. My connection with CF is through my 16 year old grandson who was diagnosed at 6 months and its through hard work with the two daily physio sessions and medication that he keeps reasonably well - he plays football, cricket etc and has twice done the junior Great North Run.
In memory of Thomas I will be entering one oof the events in the Huddersfield Examiner Charity Challenge on 17th May - a 7 mile walk. It's not a marathon or even a half -marathon but there are hills to climb and my 75-year-old knees may tell me that I should have stayed in bed!
Sadly, the money I raise through sponsorship/donations will not help Thomas but please think of Chris & Michelle who, despite losing their son remain committed to raising money to fund the research which will hopefully sooner rather than later will see off CF
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thank you for your support.
