How to make a quit attempt for charity
To make a quit attempt for charity you need to choose a quit attempt date, pick a charity for which you wish
to raise money and then build a sponsorship page by following the simple on-line instructions:
Choosing a quit attempt
If you are going to prove to your sponsors that you have quit smoking, you need to choose a quit date and not smoke for four weeks after this date – this is long enough to prove you have quit and intend to stay quit.
For example, if you are going to complete a No Smoking Day quit attempt then you need to smoke your last cigarette on 12th March. You can prove to your sponsors that you have quit smoking if you go without having a cigarette for four weeks after this date.
Once you have selected a quit attempt, click on "create your page".
To create your own quit attempt, click on the drop down menu under 'Can't find your event listed above?' and select 'other' from the drop down menu. This will allow you to define the duration of your quit attempt.
Choosing a charity
If you have a charity in mind for which you wish to raise money then simply click on “create your page” and follow the simple instructions.
However, if you do not have a charity in mind, you can browse our member charities by visiting Justgiving here. Once you have decided upon a charity you can click on “create your page” and follow the simple on-line instructions.
Building a sponsorship page
To build a sponsorship page you simply need to click on “create your page” and follow the simple instructions.
If you have not previously set up a fundraising page with Justgiving, you will be asked to provide some basic information. Furthermore you will also be asked whether you are prepared to match the funds raised by everyone on your fundraising page if you fail in you quit attempt and go back to smoking.
Once you have built your page, you can get your friends and family to sponsor you on-line to give up smoking for ever. Good luck!
