How a page works

Building an online fundraising page is quick and simple. Read on to find out how to do it, and how we will handle the donations made to your page. To print this page, click here.

1. First you choose a charity. If your search returns no results, you can nominate a charity. Do not give up: we do follow up every nomination systematically and quickly, and will get in touch with you as soon as your chosen charity has been added to the site.

2. Then you fill in a few details about yourself, which will be passed on to the charity so that it can receive automatic updates on how much you are raising online, which in turn saves you time and effort.

3. Then the fun begins: you personalise your page with a title, a message, a photograph, your fundraising target and a thank-you message for your donors. You also choose a unique web address for your page, and decide whether to receive an email alert each time someone donates to your page.

4. Once you are happy with the way your page looks, you email it to all your friends and contacts and watch the money start to roll in!

5. When your friends and family sponsor you their gift is debited from their card immediately and sent to the charity within a week. The 28% Gift Aid bonus is reclaimed separately by Justgiving, and sent to the charity at the end of each month.

6. All donors receive an automatic email, which includes a message from you.
