Easter Weekend Russ Dawkins & Randall Watson will be paddling non stop through the night from Devises Wiltshire to Westminster bridge in the annual DW Canoe Marathon www.dwrace.org.uk.

Russ is a seasoned veteran, Randall has paddled numerous endurance events. We are aiming to finish the race in 19hours and a top 10 place in doubles, were also hoping to win the veterans trophy.

What makes this challenge all the more special is we will be paddling together in a boat that belonged to ALEX GOHAR a member of Richmond Canoe Club who sadly passed away in November 2008 www.richmondcanoeclub.com.

Alex was an not just your ordinary paddler, he was an extraordinary canoeist who achieved what no normal person could achieve by finishing the DW in the 4 day event 2007. Despite his serious illness he had suffered for many years and being partially blind, this achievement gained him notable respect amongst the canoeing community.

Alex was described as a "LIFE LONG CANOEIST".

In memory of our great friend we are hopeing to raise money for the St Georges Charitable Foundation - Endocrine investigation Unit, Thomas Addison Unit. Who cared for Alex and let him continue a normal life for so many years.

Alex was a great giver in his time combined with his talent, working with coaching children in canoeing and also speaking at schools about his illness. As well he did a lot of volunteer work in aid of endocrine disorders.

We ask you to dig deep into your pockets as we will with every stroke!
