The UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health. For over a century, we've helped former servicemen and women deal with issues like trauma, anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. Today, we provide support to veterans from every service and every conflict.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

To commemorate the 65th Anniversary of Exercise Tiger myself and Darren Turner walked in US WW2 uniform from the Sherman tank memorial at Torcross to the Landing Craft Ramps at Brixham. This is about 25miles.

During the walk we raised funds for COMBAT STRESS.

We were seen off at the start by Mr Dean Small at the Sherman tank memorial, before walking across the WW2 exercise area to Dartmouth, where we finished Day One.

Day Two began with a commemorative steam train journey on the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway from Kingswear to Paignton. We then walked to the LCT ramps at Breakwater Beach, Brixham via the US military road at Churston and a rest stop at the Brixham Battery Museum.

The commemorative walk finished at the memorial at the LCT ramps at Brixham, where we were greeted by WW2 military vehicles from the Devon Miltary Vehicle Trust (MVT) and a veteran of Utah Beach.

Funds raised throughout the event are being donated to COMBAT STRESS , a UK charity that provides support for ex-servicemen with psycological injuries.

The final total hasn`t yet been worked out, and you can still DONATE here at our JUSTGIVING website.

ABOUT COMBAT STRESS

Since the end of World War 2, the vast majority of the British People have known nothing but peace. But it's been a very different story for the men and women of our armed forces. Time and again, they have been in the front line defending Britain's interests - as many still are TODAY.

Each of these conflicts, without exception, has resulted in psychiatric casualties; and for many who are affected, the problems may take years to surface.

The Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society, Combat Stress, exists to help these men and women. For nearly 90 years Combat Stress has been the only services charity specialising in helping those suffering from psychological disability as a result of their service.
