In June this year I'll be climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world for ChildReach.
Kilimanjaro
I don't know as much about this expedition as I should but here are a few titbits that I've learned about 'Kili' mainly because they're useless facts that people keep trying to scare me with.

Kili stands at 5,895m above the surrounding land

...less than 2,000m below ‘The Death Zone’ – the point where humans cannot physically survive.

Apparently, we’ve decided against the easy route.

Temperatures range from 35C at the bottom to a rather nippy -20C at the summit.

I’ll be visiting such pleasant locations as the ‘Ice Barrier’ and ‘Lava Tower’.

The summit is well above the altitude at which severe (frequently fatal) forms of altitude sickness kick in.
It does sound a little scary but if Chris Moyles managed it I fancy my chances. Ultimately, it's all for a great cause.
ChildReach
The little blurb somewhere on the left will tell you about the sort of amazing work that ChildReach do.
