Hi all, dillons head is now down to 7mm out of alignment so not much further to go!! The specialist thinks he may have to have the helmet for only another month. When he finally has the helmet off the specialist will take another 3d scan of dillons head and I will post up the before and after pictures as soon as I have them. Thank you again to eveyone who donated and to everyone who has given us so much support. X

Dillons head is now down to 13mm out of alignment so it's slowly getting there!! Just hoping that the weather doesn't get too hot over the rest of the summer so that he doesn't get too uncomfortable. A big thank you to everyone who has donated, we have enough to cover dillons helmet and some left over to help headstart4babies!!! We will be leaving the page open for a bit longer to try and raise a bit more for head start and hopefully some awarness of the condition. Thanks again to everyone who has donated, it means so much to us. Philippa, Rob and especially Dillon. X

I took Dillon to his check up yesterday and his head is now 15 mm out instead of the 21mm it was when the hat first went on!! You can really see a difference !

Dillon was born normally on the 1st October 2009 at Yeovil hospital, Somerset . From a very early age he favoured looking to one side, when he was about 6-7 weeks old we started noticing a flat spot has appeared on one side of the back of his head. Looking down on his head from above it also became obvious that his ears were considerably out of alignment. Having spoke to a doctor and been told that Dillon’s head would round itself out in time we left it for a good few weeks until we notice that the flat spot had got worse. We took Dillon back to the doctors who after some persuading referred Dillon to a paediatrician. We went and saw him as soon as the appointment came through, he told us that Dillon’s head would most probably not round out again but the only treatment is a helmet that Dillon would have to wear for 23 hours out of 24 a day. The NHS don’t pay for the helmet as they consider it to be cosmetic. We then researched the helmet on the internet and got in touch with a company called Ossur who make and fit the helmets, after a consultation with them they told us Dillon’s head is 21mm out of alignment which is classed as severe plagiocephaly. The following day we decided to go ahead with the helmet. Dillon had his helmet fitted on the 7th April 2010 and we are going for our first check up on the 20th April. We are raising money to help pay towards Dillon’s helmet which is costing £2000 also for the charity head start 4 babies (headstart4babies.co.uk) who are a small charity trying to raise awareness of plagiocephaly and brachycephaly, and also to prevent as many families as possible from missing out on the treatment. Since 2004 they have given help and advice to over 1,700 families and raised enough funds to help more than 25 families on a low income proceed with the treatment. I will update this as often as I can. If you would like to donate you can do so through this page, (any amount would be really appreciated) just follow the instructions! Thank you for taking the time to read this. Philippa, Rob and Dillon
