About the charity

Disability Direct is a support service for disabled & older people as well as carers in Derby & Derbyshire totally reliant upon donations, grants and local authority contracts. We are a service user led group having supported over 40,000 disabled people since 1993. As well as specialist information & advice in :

Benefits - eligibility & form filling

Legislation - advice & representation in discrimination

Community Care - Direct Payments & general access to service

Employment - careers, training, re-training

Grants - from trusts for items such as equipment, holidays etc

& Generic disability advice

we also provide social networking opportunities for many disabled & older people who may otherwise be socially isolated. Additionally, we run a shopping support service for those unable to shop for groceries independently delivered by volunteers & paid staff. In any year we support over 5,000 people."
